Original vintage oil on canvas painting by Swedish artist L. HERDER. A no-frills composition focusing the gaze of the viewer on a bowl with apples and a bottle. There is a clear luminosity to the painting even though the artist used greys generously to render the bottle, and to create the surface on which the two objects sit. The bowl of fruit is partly responsible for the lighter effect, with its reds, yellows and russets complementing each other. The light falls on the apples through subtle dashes of white and pale yellow hues.
