The Old Ship, Pointillist Landscape

Β£1,050.00

Original French oil on canvas. Pointillist landscape by Pierre PRUNETTI (1956-2008). In this seascape the artist shows his mastery in creating a perfect view of a ship at sea through pointillism, a technique pioneered by Georges Seurat in France at the end of the 19th century as a branch off from Impressionism. By applying dots of color to the canvas, Prunetti builds the shape of a vessel and its sails in blue and light coral respectively. The pale blue sky and sea beyond are only β€œinterrupted” by the shadow of another boat in the distance.

In beautiful frame and in overall excellent condition.
